Why have I had such trouble the last 3 years with corn stalk breakage. it doesn't matter if it is dry or irrigated or Bt corn or any brand or any population. I have up to 50 % broken off and am getting tired of it. What can be wrong?????

Hugh...we had a lot of stalk rot here in SE Iowa. You might ask your Garst guy if Herculex is making any differance. We have seen 20-30 bushel differance on the plus side in Herculex vs Yield Gard. Just a thought.

Sounds like you may have a potassium deficiency. Run a soil test to determine the defiecency... Gene Dotson.... Ohio

Try yield guard plus we had some that made 170+ and was still standing , you must have another problem or are buying cheap seed .

I am in yield guard plus (Garst) today and it is bad. Otherwise I plant Dekalb and Pioneer and Dekalb is not quite as bad but still not up to my liking . I get so irritated when the ad comes on about strong roots ,strong stalks. Blah, Blah, Blah. Last year Dekalb gave me free seed because of the poor stalks.

Did you have strong winds ? we were spared this year ,usually in cent ILL there is corn down from the mississippi river to the indiana state line ,or root worms get into everything . I know how you feel but it seems to be the norm with todays new corn .
