Do you mean it's in low and you can't get it into any other gear or do you mean it's locked in two gears? In other words does it move in low gear when you push in the clutch or does pushing in the clutch cause the engine to stall?
In either situation, you have some serious work ahead.

Well I spoke to my dad and he said it"s in low gear but it"s lock out of high. He was just using it this past weekend in the field so it does work it just won"t go into high gear. Does this make any more sense? He was told that this was done to the tractor to controll the speed. He"s not sure if they"re a problem and somethings broke or if you can just unlock the high gear part some how. I don"t understand much about the tractor but I would be glad to ask my dad any more questions to help figure this out!

Ah ha! Yes that makes some more sense. Did you just acquire this tractor or why haven"t you used or tried the high gear before? You may not be aware that the "R" was available new with steel wheels. The "high" gear (5th) would be locked out when equipped with steel wheels. Possibly that is what you have. Is it on rubber tires now? Someone may have switched steel wheels over to rubber tires but didn"t unlock the 5th gear. If indeed the 5th gear is locked because it was on steel originally, that would help you some, but I don"t know the method to unlock the 5th gear.

we did get the tractor not long ago and it is on rubber tires now. We did try to use high gear before and it never went in. My dad only purchased it since he had one when he was a little guy farming with his dad. He doesn't use it much at all so it didn't matter much. People have told him that it was an option to lock it out of high gear but no one knows how to unlock it or where to look to find out! Do you know of anyone that might know how to unlock it if this was actually the case? THANKS

On some old steel wheeled tractors, it was a long bolt to stop the selector going through to top. Shorten existing, or replace with appropriate length, bolt. Hope this is problem, as fix is easy.
