I have two of these tractors with leaking rear crankshaft seals. Can someone tell me what type seals are used.
Are they mechanical lip seals or the older square fibre packing that is simular to that used in valve stem stuffing boxes?I need to know whether to split the tractors or drop the pan to make a repair.

Iam not totally familiar with a 900b with hand clutch but after looking at book it looks same as other case tractors like a sc that has the oil pan sealing the bottom of clutch housing. If your tractor is leakingoil on ground probably you just need to remove an put on new engine gasket anyou can order part of gasket used on clutch housing. an there are 2 pieces of cork used in corners. Also some perma gasket in corners will help. Just had to do that on a sc Case.Keep us informed

My i ant t shop manual says if your tractor has a wet clutch there is no rear oil seal on engine. If a dry clutch or a 930 it will have a lip seal.If yours has a hand clutch it will be a wet clutch an oil in an around clutch is normal. If clutch is slipping it probably on;y needs to be adjusted.
