Need some advice on Farmall 706

I have a 1967 Farmall 706 with a diesel engine. When I bought the tractor I was doing more custom hay baling and the tractor worked great. Since then I have started growing more soybeans and corn. I use the tractor to pull a 12 foot field cultivator,I think it is 12 foot disk and rarely a 4 bottom plow. It seems to struggle working ground and I really don"t have the money to buy a bigger tractor. Would loading the tires make any difference working ground. Thanks for your input.

Yes some weight and duals would would make a big difference. Would seem like a different tractor. The duals would keep it on top so it wasn't trying to dig out all the time. You might try the duals first because they might add enough weight by themself.

As Jim said it would make a big difference. My FIL pulls a 5-14 and a 14" disk with his 706D. The tires are 18.4X34 loaded with a full set of front weights. The disk is pulled in 4L and the plow 3L.

Is it a traction problem or a power problem? Should be pretty easy to tell. Be honest with your self now. I spent many hours on an 806 diesel and it didn't want any more than 4-16's and 12' tillage. This wasn't clay either. Depending on your ground type,I believe you are borderline pushing the limits of the 706 power even if traction issues were corrected. Not saying it won't pull it,but it might struggle and need a gear lower?

I really think it is more of a traction issue than a power issue. A higher horsepower tractor would be nice, but it is not in the cards at the moment. That is why I asked about the loaded tires.

Thanks,
