Finish mower finally died...any advice?

Was mowing at church Saturday and the old Bush Hog finish mower finally died. Glad I was almost done.
I mow 7 acres every two weeks there.
Well...I have been kinda keeping this old thing going for a couple of years...but now it's time for a new one. The wheel bushings are shot, the wheel swivels bent, and now it looks like the gearbox is about dead.
So...there are several mowers on the market...what is the best for the money? The Bush Hog has been a good one...but there are Landpride, Rhino, Caroni and a lot more I am sure.
I need at least a 6 footer. I am considering a rear discharge this time. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a Land Pride 2572 Air Tunnel (side discharge) that has given 9 years of excellent service. Try to look them over real good before you buy. Some like Woods, and I don't doubt they do a good job, but the Woods I've looked at have skip welds as the standard. Others, including Land Pride use continuous welds. Look up specs. Most mfg have websites with pics, specs and, in some cases, operators manuals.

Oh gosh Dave...then I would need a bigger horse to pull it...plus the folks at church might get upset when their plants disappered.
But thanks anyway.
I am going to South Houston in the AM to look at the landpride and Bush Hog mowers. Kinda like the Bush Hog. It looks like you can back in a little closer to plants and trees than the Land Pride. Less to weed eating that way.
Have not found a Woods dealer close to me yet...but they sure look sturdy.
But...if I were to get your mower...a bigger horse with a cab....na, better pass.
Thanks folks.....

I've proved Landpride(3590). Fourteen years x 25 acres x every three weeks x eight months a year and in Louisiana grass. Only problem was one worn out gearbox in year 12.

Friend left his Woods 6 foot mower with me for two years. Didn't use because he had dogged it. I could tell however that the engineering was suberb. It is an even simpler machine than Landpride. IMHO,the simpler the better in any machine of that sort.

My vote is for a Woods. I run a RM990 rear-discharge 7 1/2 ft. and man, is it sweet. Takes a real beating from sticks and rocks, but will turn around and lay the grass down nice and pretty.

I use a 6" Woods RD7200 rear discharge finish mower and I love it. It"s a great piece of equipment that has given me good service for 3 years now. Not the cheapest, but definitely a good unit. Tim

I have a Land Pride 6' rear discharge; the heavy duty 2572 model. I mow 10 acres with a John Deere 435. Have not had any problems other than normal maintenance. Built very well. The 2572 has heavier gearbox and spindles than the lighter duty 1572 model.

2 years ago my side discharge Bushhog finishing mower needed so much work I was readdy to junk it. Since the ID plate was gone I put it on the truck an took it with me to see how much parts would cost. Wound up getting a good trade deal on a new 6 foot rear discharge Bushhog RDTH. One of the best deals I've made. Love that mower.

Why not get a 6 foot xero turn mower. Mows fast and turns real sharp.

Ya know...I thought about that...but then I loose the reason to have the tractor. That, and it gets awful hot here in Texas. The tractor has a canopy on it for shade...the mower would not. Plus there are big ditches I have to mow. The tractor is the better choice I think.
I also use the tractor for Fall hayrides for the kids at church. They love it.
And those zero turn mowers are expensive...to high for my wallet.
But, having said that...thanks for your input.
What part of VA you in? Was stationed at Belvoir off and on before I retired from the Army.
Nice state...if you stay away from the DC area.
Loved the valley.

I now use a Kubota diesel zero turn mower, but I traded in a Landpride FDR2584 84" rear discharge finish mower on it. I liked it a lot, just need something quicker and something my wife could operate. I'd highly recomend the Landpride, they are good heavy cutters in my opinion, and mine never gave me a seconds trouble while I had it.
