For those who don't get a newspaper, or who may not have heard, it's OK now to order medications from Canada again. It was announced yesterday per a squib in our paper: no more seizures at the border or of mailed packages. Being a bit cynical myself, I'd suggest anyone getting medications from Canada should stock up before the election; my own guess is that if the Reps keep a comfortable majority the border'll be slammed shut again.

You need to remember why drugs are cheap in Canada. The drug manufacturers agree to sell to Canada at near the cost of production because Canada is a small market. If those Canadian sales leaking back into this country start to affect profitability they will tell the Canadians to pay the American price if they want the drugs. Then there will be no cheap drugs for Canadians or Americans.

Of course, there are Chinese companies turning out imitations of any drug you want real cheap. They may be plaster of paris instead of what you need, but they are cheap.

That ,s not the reason they are cheaper up here , long ago our govt. decided they wouldn,t sit by and let the drug co. rip us off and told them that they would put price controls on them.

I heard somewhere that the official reason imported drugs are illegal is because the FDA cannot inspect the manufacturers/warehousing/ distribution, and therefore quality control, from out of country sources so they must make them illegal.

I got $800 worth of drugs for my brother for only $170 in Mexico. I'm sure the FDA inspected all of those. LOL

It's funny how the party of personal responsibility is intent on controlling everything we do.

I don't know where you were trying to get your stuff I have never had any problems, plenty of places to order on-line, been buying that way for years, the co-pay for one month down here pays for 3 months from up there..

We're on Kaiser (my wife's a retired Kaiser employee) so medications're covered for a $5 or $10 co-pay, depending on amount. I just saw the piece saying the Border people had confiscated 40,000 packages of incoming pharmaceuticlas as contraband, and assumed the whole cross-border traffic had been shut down completely. Apparently the confiscations were more hit or miss.
