In hot weather, after running my NAA for a while I notice my oil pres. gets down as low as 20#?? Is this normal for that motor? I run 10w40. Should I run straight 40? Anyone ever try the product RESTORE or any other oil additive with good results?

I go by 10 psi for every 1000 rpm... so 20 psi at idle is just fine. Should have 20 and 2000 rpm, 30 at 3000 rpm, etc.

Aloha, Yes, I used restore in a clunker (old car) a while back and it did work. I guess anything would have worked ok in my old clunker LOL. I didn't keep it very long so I don't know how it would work out in the long run. I found out about it (restore) from a friend of mine and gave it a try.

Mahalo,

As per the NAA owners manual, it says use 30W oil in the summer. Stright weight oils hold better preassure then a multi weight oil does

What does the owner's manual say... I'll bet it suggests 40-weight oil in warm weather.

Of course, motor oil has changed since then, but likely, straight 40-weight will bring the oil pressure up a bit. Even with the oil pressure you have, the engine will probably go a heck of a long time without any problems.

20 pounds of oil pressure is more than a lot of these old tractors have. No need to worry, its plenty of pressure and your engine will go for many years with that.

You probably would find you would have higher pressure if you went to straight 30 or 40 weight oil. But I don't think you really need to, you are doing fine with what you have in there.

Tim,

They'll run for a long, long time like that.

However, the cure is to overhaul the engine. Bearing clearances are getting excessive.
