Alrighty Then,

Boy! Do I like this tractor! Old sister didn't blink, snort nor hesitate. Just plain went out there and worked and not a hint of a problem. :>)

GaryIA is right; that darned straight pipe has gotta come off of there tho. She "cackels" and doesn't sound like an IH. :>(

That's another story.

The two condenser motors/fans are missing and someone has bolted in a new bycool outfit on the roof.

Don't know wheather to just dive into repairing the original A/C or to try out that cooler first. Dealer told me that they really cool well out here in our dry climate??? Dunno. :>(

I can give a good guess why the fans and motors are missing: they are expensive. I bought one motor for my 4166 and it was $95 without the fan blade. But having factory air which works on an old machine, is nice.

I fixed up the factory AC on the old 4020 that I used to have. Took a while to work out all the kinks but it didn't work too bad when it was done.

How are the "acoustics" in that cab. I've heard opinions on both sides of the board on those 66 series cabs.

Not bad at all.

Years ago, I had a 966 that I had the IH shop put a "Year-Round" cab on and a turbo. In the process they put a straight pipe on that one too and I couldn't stand it from the day they unloaded it off the truck. Just couldn't hear yourself think in that rascal.

However, I kinda like this one. Lots, lots quieter even with the bad floor mat and cab seal missing. No comparison with that old Year-Round outfit. But, to be fair, this one has an inch of sound deadening material on the inside.

Really like the way the cab pressures up too.

Yeah, the 986 we rent on occasion has a straight pipe on it, but it looks factory and it's really not loud at all... even inside the cab.

Now you're cooking with natural gas. You gonna give it a nice paint job this winter?

Uh-huh. Allan, you and all of us know, that you won't be able to stand that tractor not having a new paint job on it. Specially with all the others looking like they do. I'd about be willing to go on the record here that the ole 10 will have a new coat on by spring. Anybody wanna bet against it? Harley
