I've painted several utility trailers with a brush and oil base Rustoleum. Use a top quality china bristle brush, apply generously, and they have all turned out pretty decent.
Plus the spray can Rusto colors match it for touch ups.
Available at WalMart $8.77 a quart.
I don't reccomend this for "Show tractor trailer queens".

Marine polyuerathanes come in brushable formulations and quite a few colors. When applied with a foam brush they flatten very nicely ie the brush strokes disappear. I prefer Interlux. Pettit has a new paint out that I haven't tried.

Many larger marinas have it . You can go online to West Marine or go to the Interlux or Pettit web sites and see where they send you. It's not cheap.

Seems like its just about impossible to make a brush paint job look good- Sounds like you haven't bought the paint yet, so why not find a color you like in spray cans? Shouldn't cost much more, and results will be so much better.
