Help Verifiying VIN or serial Number

Hi, I am trying to verify the VIN or Serial number on a couple of my dads old Massey Harris tractors, the plate that is normally on the side of MH tractors is gone, I know there is one other place around the transmission or something that has the VIN number, could you please explain how to find this, in your explanation please be specific, because I am not an expert around tractors. Thank you so much.

I don't know what model you have, but on the 101 Senior, the serial number was stamped on top of the tranny case behind the clutch pedal, and just to the front of the gear box cover. It is probably covered with years of crud, do some scraping, and then look to the left under Research & Info. One thing nice about Massey Harris, the serial number was never repeated on different models.
