Used to be you got a nice radar map and forcast. Then they went to a smaller map and 3 day forcast & more ads. Now with the last update this morning all I get is cartoons and ads. Sorry, I'll miss the temperature in the corner but I'll get my weather from NOAA. What do you guys do?

usually use a combination of weather.com, accuweather.com, local papers and looking up at the sky and mountains (if you see them clear usually good for a couple of days). all said and done though, they all seem to be wrong when u have nice second cutting on the ground...

Cowman, I like the Intellicast.com radar better than any others I've seen. They also have nice forecasts. You just have to click on each item to get it. Good stuff, though. Tim

I use NOAA too since CAFB is just 35 miles away. For radar I like their national mosaic link and then you can click on your local radar or where ever you want to see. Once at local radar can got to your local NWS and get more detailed info. Aviation reports, Fire reports, and other localized reports. NWS and NOAA has made lots of changes last 2 years and with FD I still do some weather spotting with them at times but really was none of that to do this year yet. You can get their reports emailed to you also or if a NOAA radio channel nearby listen to it on that too.

I've used Accuweather.com for years because of their different radars and they have 15 day forecasts, hourly predictions. Give them a look.

Like you, I have quit using weather.com. If I want radar, I always go to>Link
For general US weather, I use>Link
For local forcast, I usually go to the local TV station web site.

I use the "web alert" from 10/11 koln/kgin. Has good radar. It really nice. Make sure that you use the Goodland radar site. Its good. Should work for you out in Wellfleet. You should be able to select North Platte for weather. Is Harry Spawn still around?

My weather.com still has the good map etc. Maybe a cookie got deleted or something? Anyways, I use weather.com, Link (national weather service), accuweather.com and intellicast.com. Between those four, I usually find a forecast I like.

weather.com you can enter your zip for a 3 or 10 day forecast, and below the map you can scroll thru to the weather map you like to see. i only look at noaa for the tropical storm and hurricane reports. you can also try your nearest tv or radio station, they usually keep up to date reports. and some stations will send you special e-mail when severe weather is headed for your area. it's just a guessing game with these weather people, one will say this and the other will say that. i always look at two and sometimes three sources for a report.

Weatherbug
It's an advertising medium also but is reporting local weather stations at schools, fire stations and such.
Forecasts and Radar come from NOAA, I think.

I use one from the weather channel. You have to put your zip code in. All so there is another that gives the whole us in motion. I hope the optional link works.

Hey Howard, I use a very old tried and true indicater. It is a weather rock and we have TONS of them down here in the Ozerks a dry rock means fair weather.
a wet rock means it's raining.
a dusty rock means a dust storm.
a swaying rock means it's windy.
a shadow under the rock means it's sunny.
a white rock means it's snowing.
if the rock is jumping up and down, an
earthquake is upon us.
if the bottom of the rock is under water it's a
flood

Hope this helps, and if ya need some rocks, get ahold of me, as I can ship you TONS of them. Harley

Harley, that rock is just about as accurate as any radar map or computer generated forecast. When I was a kid we listened to KMA radio. A guy by the name of Frank Field gave the weather forecast. We didn"t have radar or computers back then, and "ol Franks forecast was as accurate as anything we have today.

I like Harley's weather rock, but he could enhance it by putting in the fence post with a log chain fastened to it for a wind indicator. But what do I know, I retired from NOAA.

When you live in Nebraska, you have to chain the rock to the post.

Hey Cowman,

With all the wind out there on the prarie how do you guys ever get any spraying done. This year in PA everytime i had to spray it was too windy. A few years ago i learned a lesson the hard way and I knew better but was too impatient. Had a nice field of sweet corn about 2 weeks up and I wanted to roundup the field next to it. Too windy, I knew it, too dumb, sprayed it any way. Guess what? One week later all ok, two weeks later "maybe it will grow out of it." three weeks later replant. Anyway maybe you or Allan or some other prarie farmers can tell me how you can get any spraying done w/o a lot of drift.

I spray most of my insecticides and fungicides at night or evening when there is less wind.
