I'm trying to build a steel grille guard for the 584 at work. Seems people that operate it like to push brush together with the grille, so I want to protect it before it ends up like the last tractor they had. Does anyone have any pictures or detailed descriptions of a grille guard they made? I want to use 1 1/4" square tubing, and I've got a drawing together on paper, but I'd love more ideas. Thank you for any help.

I'm waiting for you to build one and then I can copy you. That's an excellent idea, I've never got to the planning stage. It seems to me there's lots of places to bolt to around the front of a 584, you wouldn't need any more than 4 or 5 bars in the grill to protect it. Good luck and I am interested in what you come up with...Mike in Exeter Ontario.

From the drawings I've made it looks really good, but it's all I've got so far. I think I planned for five vertical bars, spaced at 4 1/2" O.C. I've also drawn to leave three openings at the top; for the headlights and the center emblem. I 'spose I oughta just get the steel and start puttin' it together. I'm wondering how I'm going to cut the tubing, though. I need to cut miters to allow for the way the grill is sloped outwards towards the top. Haven't figured that out yet. I'll try to keep you posted.
