It's easy to get overwhelmed by the problems of the day and and the world, but I must say there are some simple things (blessings is probably a better word)that have made me feel right with it all this week.
Seeing a hen nesting under an old hay rake and finding the first two chicks last night.
Eating bacon that came from hogs we raised.
A good running, sharp chainsaw.
Teaching my boys to split wood and they like it.
Making an apple pie from our our fruit.

There are days that I move 90 mph and curse any bit of trouble as I feel overwhelmed by the amount of work to do and underwhelmed by how much actually got done. Today I am just going to let it soak in.

Thanks to all of you for the inspiration as you share your projects and pleasures of farming.

Grub

I remember an episode of the old Kung Fu tv series when these guys were in a wagon getting hauled to prison or a work camp and a guy looked at David Carridine and said, Dont you ever worry china man? He looked up at the guy and said; "If I worry, will the future change?" I never forgot that although I still worry wayyyyy to much about repairing stuff and the weather!~

Only three things in life worth really worring about..they all begin with the letter I
Inditement, inoperable and internment

Everything else can be fixed

I am for some reason not a worrier. However there are times that I have had concerns about some things.Mostly these items of concern were to do with mechanical things and other peoples workmanship.I spent my lifetime in the deepsea marine shipping business.I had the good fortune to work with a very successful friend who was a ship owner. While I was superintending drydocking an major overhaul repairs on a large ship I expressed my concern to my friend about reinstallation of the 50 ton tail shaft and 60 ton propellor because of lack of experienced mechanics. My friend remarked that my problem was that I concerned myself unduly over, as he put it, nine out of ten things you worry about ( aint ever going to happen)I have lived with that advice and have found to be just about 100 % accurate.I have watched the outcome since then for over 30 years and that saying has rarely failed. Try watching how well this works.

Yup, the little things are the most important things but one has to come to this realization over time and hopefully, with no problems along the way.

I had some things to do this afternoon and evening but our two year old grandson was here for the evening so guess what? I sat in a chair out in front of the shop and watched him until my wife hollered "Time to wash hands." Didn't turn a wrench nor get anything done that I had planned but came into the house with a whole lot of peace and satisfaction from watching Wyatt play while I enjoyed the beautiful September view across the valley.

What I wanted to get done tonight will get done tomorrow--maybe. But nothing can replace that time I spent with Wyatt tonight.

Grub0927; My motto in life anymore is if you worry about anything and it don't happen, you worried for nothing; all the worry in the world won't change whether it happens or not. BTDT almost learned to late KEN

Yeah,

Too darned bad I didn't learn a lick until I got old.

I find that I get probably 10 times more accomplished if I just let the work "soak in" as you say.

Worrryin' about things just gets in the darned way. :>)
