What does your local seed dealer say?

I planted some November first one year and it did good, BUT...we got snow before the ground froze.

From what I've read, winter rye will germinate @33 degrees f. In my experience, though, it likes at least 40 degrees. f.

Too late? Nope. I won't be planting mine for another 2-3 weeks.

Neighbor cuts silage, plants rye after to harvest & bag next spring here in Minnesota.

He just planted his 2 days ago, be4 the 2 inch soaking 3 day rain.....

Last year I tried 3 acres just for fun, got it in late, was Oct 7th or so. Came through pretty good, I planted it thin.

So, time is getting short, but you should still be fine most years.
