Boy,

We skipped this sping and went right out of winter into 100 degree summer weather.

Now, it has been raining off and on for the past two weeks and they are calling for another week of damp wet weather.

Where in the heck is my Indian Summer? I'm not done with all the chores yet! :>(

Hi Gang;
We've had a peculiar year here too. Cold and dry spring, hottest & driest July on record, wettest and coldest August for many years.
Now September is mixed weather, photos posted over past 2 days taken on 21st Sept, breezy but warm enough for wearing shorts. Then we got gale force winds lastnight, the tail of your hurricane - thanks guys ! LoL
All the bushes & trees here laden with berries the sign of a hard winter ahead.
Cheers David

It'll get there. We jumped from wet cool to warm and still and now cool and very windy again. It's probably going to blow all month and next month till those politicians get done with elections?

You're telling me. This wet weather is going to take a toll on my tractor fund as well I bet. I've got close to 200 acres of 3rd cutting grass/alfafla horse hay lying on the ground. I had it sold for a fantastic price to hay brokers in Colorado, but I'm starting to wonder what it'll look like after all this rain, and possibly snow tonight. Oh well its moisture. By the way, thanks for the help on that 1066 I might go see if I can get him to fire it up for me today or tomorrow and see how it runs.

Morning Allan,

Our Indian Summer usually hits around mid October, temps go back up into the 70's. We usually have snow before that, and pretty quickly after...almost time to drag snowmobiles out and prep them, 10 inches in the Snowies last weekend, more this weekend, possible snow down here Friday night/Sat morning...fall is here now.

Yeah, mid October is usually when we have our Indian summer in the northwest, too- unless it decides to just rain right on through. We ususally have pretty dry summers, but this year drier than most- we have only had about an inch of rain since June 22, and most of that in the last week. Pastures are pretty burnt up, but lots of good hay put up. Rain pretty much quits in late June, then starts up again sometime in September.

Hey! Wait a darned minute!

I just now got caught up to the 10th of June. Where in the heck did this year go anyways?

I thought there was a law that stated it couldn't snow until the 31st of October. Now yer tellin' me that we've changed that part too? :>(

Naw, at least here the law says it has to at least be cold on Oct 31st, preferably with snow, but there's nothing saying it can't snow well before that...

Rabbit Ears Pass last weekend, callin for 12-18 more by tomorrow...

MEMO: From management to whom it may concern.
Due to cost considerations, Fall has been canceled. This should not be a problem as we earlier canceled Spring and nobody but Allan even said any thing.
Also in another budget trimming session we have decided that the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned of.
Sorry for any inconvienience this may cause.

Hmmmm,

Do you mean that due to the low morale factor, all playtime activities have been canceled too?

I feel a bad case of cabin fever settin' in. :>(

Gary, having been born and raised in southwest Iowa I can tell ya exactly what squaw winter is. After the corn and beans are out of the field and the snow starts coming down, there ain't much to do up there and that's when ya have to stay indoors for so long that even the old, fat girls start looking good. That is squaw winter. Harley

Oh heck,

Guess I've had it wrong all these years.

I thought it was when it was so cold that the fat girl had to get out of the car and buy the 3.2 beer at the filling station. :>(
