talked with the folks at the local Case IH dealership, they want to test the pump on it, so I am going to take it out to them in the morning and they can test it off the remote. Now, they confirmed that it did indeed have a seperate pump for the pto, and the other pump runs the power steering, the 3pt, and the remotes. Which pump was it that you replaced?.

Jon,

My tractor is a 966, so it has 3 pumps. The one I replaced was the "hitch pump" or "main pump", which also handles the remotes.

A separate pump handles the PTO and yet another for the steering, brakes and the T/A.

Now, I would "guess" that on your tractor, one pump "probably" handles the remotes, hitch and the steering. Just can't say for sure tho.

You're on the right track; take it to the big boys if you don't have an IT manual. They can test it and you can still fix it yourself if ya like.

Oh, I thought yours had just two pumps. They told me that 1 pump ran the steering, hitch, and remotes and I am guessing problably the brakes as well. My tractor doesn't have a t/a and I asked if the pto was run off a seperate pump, and they said yes, so that would explain why the pto doesn't fail when everything else did.

The 484 has one hyd pump, flowdivider in the MCV that pump is behind gives priority to the steering. Rest of oil is directed to remotes, pto, lube & brake circuits. If pto valve is not properly adjusted or linkage is rusted so pto valve is not in proper position remotes & 3pt hyds will be afected. Your dealer is probably aware of this. Just something to look out for.
