Well the inevitable finally happened. I was bringing back my new project from Eastern Missouri today when we ran into a real bad storm and before I could get off of the highway to wait the storm out, a car from the other side of the highway came accross the barriers and slammed into us. Thankfully there were no serious injuries, but on the bad side, the Suburban and trailer hauling the tractor are totalled. This is where my problem lies. I need to rent a truck and trailer to get the tractor and I need to do it tomorrow as the tow truck driver said that I would be lucky to have anything remain overnight. Does anyone know where I can rent a truck and trailer. Thanks heaps. Jon Holt

U haul trailers have a 4000 lb max. Tell them you are going to haul a 98 Saturn SL1. This car weighs 1750lbs. They will allow this weight. Rent the truck and there you go. BTW, if you rent the trailer and bring it back within 24 hours, it is only 49.95. Good luck Aaron

Thanks for all the info. and offers to help. I do agree that the party at fault will have to pay for everything, but I do want to get my tractor to its new home where it is safe from harm. Unfortunately, Fenton is on the other side of Missouri, it is close to where we got the tractor at on Saturday.

It seems to me, since that car slammed into you... Their Insurance is responsible for the safety of your property... They should be the ones to see that your property is secure & transported to you premises.. I am not one to take advantage of a situation, but I feel they need to take responsibility...

Jon, It would help if we knew which way you are travelling. As far as rentals, not sure if there is anyplace that rents flat beds, although there probably is, somewhere. I would have thought the tow truck driver could have helped you with some information at least. If a tow company took it to their yard, aren't they responsible for any loss/theft? Most that I know of locally have secure yards that they put the stuff in. Just my thoughts.

Unfortunately, this yard is open to the world. The tow truck driver said there was nothing for quite a ways away. Right now about the only place I have found is U-haul that rents trucks and trailers. This would probably work as the tractor is a Case VAC and doesn't weigh a whole lot.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Other than finding a friend I have seen U-haul trailers that are tandem flatbed style. A local tractor dealer would probably haul it but it might be pricey. I'm afraid I'm not much help otherwise.

Jon, Enterprize will rent a truck then go down the street to U-Haul and get a trailer(Just do not tell them you are pulling a tractor) Or get a box truck and trailer from U-Haul

Sorry to hear of your acccident but I'm glad nobody was hurt.

Herz Equipment rental rents equipment trailers, some are bobcat sized, others go up to deck over wheel high capacity trailers.

I also know of a deck over wheel bumper pull trailer you can rent in Kansas City, Kansas, not sure where you are going or where you are now so that may not help. I would contact the other parties insurance company, explain the situation and ask them to send a hauling company to get this tractor home for you.....

Email me if you are near kc, I can give you some phone numbers to try.
