This is a little OT but:
A friend of mine bought a John deere bike at a yard sale for next to nothing, it is an old one, antique, anyone know the value of these bikes or where I can find out.
This is only the second one ive seen, and like the first one I saw, its not for sale
thanks

I think that there were a total of 13 different John Deere bikes sold in the early Seventies, I had a collection of 11 diferent styles and sold them all for $100.00 each.

E-mail this address - I suspect he can help.

dale@antiquejohndeere.com

He used to have some and this much I know, they are not throw-aways.

Are you talking about the bikes which were sold in the late sixties, very early seventies? A friend has a mint one, which he bought new and rode only a few times. Really a "crowbar" of a bike. Heavy frame, and only fair-at-best components. But in another 50 or a 100 years, maybe everyone will want one. However if my memory serves me correctly, I believe that JD made a bike in the late 1800's or in the early 1900's. I assume it had wood rims. One of these would be a great collectable.
