First I am building a solar collector to lessen the bite that my lp contract ran up to. I know I cant get a 100% heating from the sun but I am hope to get 20% from my efforts.

Later this winter a friend want convert his 706 to KFC oil. Now the price of fuel is going down but it will always go back up.

That would be "eating rainbow stew" for those who were wondering what the end of the title should read before it was cut off". You didn't get my permission to use that title but I guess it's OK.

Signed, your friend, Merle Haggert

Saw Merle at the beautiful Napavine Amphitheatre a couple weeks ago. He looks pretty tough, but the old coot can still put on a show. Did his own guitar riffs, and sang about every hit he had. Still sounds pretty good, although you can tell he's not 35 anymore. Overheard one kid asking his grandpa what "rainbow stew" was.

Things are a bit foggy this morning .... too much free bubble up last night. Actually, there are several ways of spelling the Haggard name and they are all wrong. Originally, our family name was Chryzowskwathinski but the music producers thought it would be too hard to print on album covers.

I recently done work for a customer who was not tied into the power grid what so ever. He was fully solar powered. First time I had run my machine off solar power. He too runs his house and power tools with no problem. Cost him $6,000.00 to have it installed. I"m talking western New York area.

CHRISCO, I respectfully disagree (in good humor) Like I told my kids when they were young and in science class ALLLLL LLLLL LLLLL LL heating, including yours, is indeed Solar and comes from the Sun..... ..... ...

The oil n natural gas n coal is from decomposed plants that grew CUZ OF THE SUN

The firewood for the wood stove burners is from trees that grew CUZ OF THE SUN

The electric heat is from generatign stations that (unless daMs) burn coal etc CUZ OF THE SUN

I thought about hydroelectric and wind power as maybe NOT energy from the sun??? Buttttt t without the sun we wouldnt be here n wouldnt need any heat right???

Seriously, I hear ya and nowadays we all try to utilize solar or wind or water power etc to lessen what we have to pay utilities grrrrr rrrrr

Yall take care now n God Bless

John T

Well surely Hydropower's got to come from the sun. After all it's only able to run downhill because it fell as rain at the top of the hill and it only fell as rain because it was evaporated by the sun in the first place. Then there's this wind stuff which is surely driven (at the end of the day) by an inequal distribution of the suns energy landing on earth's surface. Just a thought. Tractorsam

Nope. in reply to John T, 09-07-2006 05:09:13
Ya forgot about Nuclear.

And Iceland uses some geothermal.

But ya, probably 95% of our overall energy use world wide traces itself back to the sun at some point :)
