About 3 weeks ago I bought a new 6 volt battery for my Jubilee since the Interstate Workhorse had died after 5 years. I didn't have time to do anything with the tractor at the time so I just shoved the battery in and didn't bother to hook it up. Over the weekend I got told the lane had to be mowed and that I'd better get the tractor running. Cleaned the posts, cleaned the cables, hooked the battery up. Went to polarize the generater and couldn't get a spark. Tried to start the tractor and nothing. Relay wouldn't even click. Got out the VOM and the battery was dead. Three hours on a charger later, I could get the generater polarized. Starter spun the engine over twice, and the battery died. Fortunatly this was on Saturday and I could get a Farm & Fleet battery. Which I should have done in the first place.

Took the battery back to NAPA and got a refund. Five or six years ago NAPA was getting 6 volt batteries with bad cells. I wonder now if they're not getting totally dead batteries.

That"s been the experience that Big JT and I have had.

Local NAPA dealer has dropped NAPA batteries and is handling Interstate.

Next time get a John Deere battery. I'm not kidding and I do not own a John Deere tractor. You can't beat their batteries.

I stocked NAPA batteries for about a year but got tired of making adjustments so I had them taken out. Compared to Interstate that I also stocked, NAPA batteries are really junk. They are made by Exide in who knows what country.

I have given up on NAPA batteries across the board. They always honored their warranty, but I NEVER had a NAPA battery get much past half the warranty period, and it's a PITA to go start your plow truck and have a dead battery.

Dealer should always test batteries before it leaves the store. Sometimes they are shiped from the factory with a shorted cell. Their are very few factories left in USA .

One problem with wet cell batterys is age-if it sat around the store long enough it is gone. 12 volts "turn" quick enough that this usually ain't a problem but 6's move in an outa the store slower.
