I think electric stoves have one central spark generator which does all burners at once. You sometimes can "lift the hood" of those stoves by simply lifting up on the stove top just above the door. If you are missing the snapping sound you probably need to replace the "coil" or whatever makes the spark. If not may just be lots of old mung around the metal surfaces -Emery cloth-

Ain't progress wonderful? I had a gas stove for about thirty years and the old standing pilots never went out. Yes I know it used a bit of gas but what the hey. They were there when needed.

Cosmo,
Multiply that "bit of gas" several million times and for 30 years. That is some waste of a resource, which is reducing by the day. Apart from the increased explosion hazard. Get a bit green and do a little to help save the earth. It needs everyones help. Hope you never complain about the changing weather cycles and global warming (which are now fairly certainly caused by us humans mucking up the equilibrium), the price of fuels, etc.

I clean the grease off of the contacts, and clean the centers of the burners, then take some fine emery cloth to clean up the contacts on the burners. I do that and I have no problems. If not either replace them or use a long lighter.

Ours is the same way, except ours still click and sound as if they are working, but nothing happens. Kind of a pain in the you know what to use a match.

My stove, made by Brown (go figure) did the same thing and the unit is down inside the stove meaning it would have to be disconnected from the gas , pulled out and disassembled to fix it. I bought a couple butane gas grill lighters and use those. The oven has a pilot when in use so it holds temp just fine.

Had one of them once - it had the same problem so I just turned the burner on and lit them with a match. Luckily, the oven one still worked (you can LIGHT it with a match, but it won't hold temp). On mine there was an electronic gizmo that tied all of the burners together - finally replaced it and all was well.
