I was using a tarp strap to hold my tractor battery in place and one hook rubbed a tiny hole about one and a half inches from the top and a good bit of acid ran out. (No reprimands please, I know better now.) Any hoo, can this hole be patched and with what? The battery is about a year old and still starts the tractor fine. Thanx, Cosmo

I patched a battery once with roofing tar. It lasted a couple of more years.

If you have a hot glue gun it works good if you rough up the battery with sandpaper and clean with baking soda anr drying completely .did that many times at my shop with good results.

Clean the area and rough it up, then use JB Weld on it.
Good Luck,
CaptRon

Did you ever read the package on that stuff? The city of Dallas repaired a 3406 Cat block with it? I wonder what poor SOB got that machine at auction and got it home and got a suprise. Ha.

Thanks CaptRon. I'll see if I can find what Old suggested and if not then it's the old reliable JB Weld. Cosmo

Don't know if it can still be found but about 10 years ago they sold a stuff just for doing that. I found the stuff at an O'riellys auto parts store. Worked pretty good also.

Old, that was a pretty fast reply. I was wondering if something as simple as silicone could be used. I'll check with my local parts buddy at Car Quest tomorrow. Now I'm going out with a box of baking soda and give my 35 a good douche. Cosmo

Don't know about witha hole in the side, but years ago I blew the top off one, and put it back together with silicone. Held up for couple of years before the battery finally died.

Silcone may work but I'm not sure on that. The stuff I'm talking about was a 2 part stuff you mixed and it then gets hard. Sort of like JB weld but made just for battery repair

My Dad fixed one with fiberglass repair. Worked for a long time.
