I just purchased a Farmall F-14 with steel wheels and want to keep the lugs on but be able to drive in parades. I have seen tractors where people have attached steel band with rubber tread on them to go over the lugs. Any info on how to do this or names of people that can do this and roughly how much it costs. I live in Kansas. Thanks.

I did this on my D J.D. I bought new lugs and then I measured the OD of the wheels. I then bought two 1/2" x 4" pieces of flat stock and cut them about two ft. longer than the OD. A friend of mine works in a machine shop and he curled them to a diameter about 4" smaller than the OD of the wheel. I then bought angle iron that was the same heigth as the lugs. I drilled holes in the angle iron and bolted them on the wheel between the lugs. I then wraped the flat stock around the wheels, welded hooks about three feet from each other on opposite end of the flat stock, pulled them tight with a comealong and welded it to the angles. I then cut the excess flat stock off.The angle that was at the ends of the flat stock, I cut short enough to weld a piece on the top to make a T. I drilled two 3/8 holes in each end of the flat stock and four holes in the T and bolted them together. Now I can remove them by unbolting one end of the flat stock and then the angles from the wheels. If I had to do it over, I would use 3/8" flat stock. It only covers one row of lugs but, that's all you need. Then you can wrap rubber around it.
