There has been a problem with people robbing brass grave markers, and bronze vases for flowers from cemeteries to sell for scrap metal. Well I just read in the paper tonight they cought one of guys. In my opinion that is about as low as one can get. I talked with my neighbor yesterday day, he said someone came in his yard, and stole the radiator from his old dodge pickup he was restoring. Someone broke into our mail box today. watch your stuff. stan

Lest we forget the meth maker who tried to steal anhydrous ammonia from a tank by drilling up through the bottom with a cordless drill. An unfortunate way to go, but cleansing the gene pool isn't all that bad, either.

That behavior is going on in Alabama also, cemetary vases, ground wires from power poles,a/c units from houses and churches.Anything of aluminum or copper.Recycle facility operators are honorable men I'm sure, but someone showing up with a load of cemetary vases should raise a red flag.Crystal Meth is the current epidemic in our rural areas.Law enforcement is either overwhelmed or dosen't care.My theory is that these people that use, make and sell this stuff and expose their children to it are just too sorry to put in jail. There's no money for the local government or the town lawyers to make by arresting them,so they go about their business of stealing and selling what they've stolen from dead people and those that work for what they have.I hate a thief.

Here in Ohio in Cleveland it was on the news , Some %@$tards removed over half of an elderly ladys aluminum siding in Broad Daylight. Locals thought she was having the house resided. They valued the siding maybe at 75.00 . Stupid Crack Heads deserve to be shot!

we had an old hand pump well in a fenceline about 40 ft off the road. it was nice to get off the tractor and get a cold drink. well, some one pulled in with a truck, cut it off with a torch and it was gone. sherriff said the antique hunters are stealing them quite a bit.

A couple of months ago somebody stole the copper gutters off of our church.

The thing that makes me wonder are the scrape mongers. Granted there is not a way to identify the source of some of the items (gutters from a church) but grave markers???

Had my two Stihls stolen by some neighbors turned meth freaks a couple of years ago. They weren't much older than me (early 30s). They arrested them and they admitted to the theft. They were supposed to pay us back the replacement value and send us a letter of apology. Never received a dime, and the county prosecuter doesn't have the time of day for us. Some bs restorative justice is what I call that.

I now have a Husky 50 Rancher, which is a better saw than my 028s, but I sure do miss having 2 saws.

Aloha, Over here, the two legged rats are stealing everything that isn"t welded down. They yank the copper wire out of the freeway lights, airconditioning tubing, aluminum guard rails, copper pipe, copper gutters, brass plumbing fixtures from beach restrooms, etc.

Here in Nebraska, people are stealing irrigation pipe out of the field trying to sell it for scrap. There were several instances of people stealing the pipe trailer and pipe and selling the thing as is. Thankfully they were caught, prosecuted, and the goods were returned to their rightful owners. Construction sites and similar places are having a heck of a time keeping things that are even "nailed down" from taking legs.

The latest thing that is beginning to be stolen is the catalytic convertors off vehicles. The druggies get around 100 dollars for them. Most will cost you 500-700 to replace. Pickups and SUV's are the choice as they have room underneath. Using a cordless recip saw it is a fast grab. Noise?? they don't care.

Some years back, here in Oregon we had a notorious Grave robber. Seems the fellow would dig up native American graves and steal any artifacts. He was caught several times and fined. The last time he dug up a native American grave, the cops found his body lying beside the hole, his head neatly severed from his body !! Talk about tribal justice !! Jim B.

Heard of a few instances of some midnight copper shoppers that aren't around anymore because they failed to take into account the stuff they planned on making off with was being used for.

tried to start my old Jeep the other day. It always started easy but no way this time. Traced the lines back to a big hole in the gas tank... where the fuel pump was?! This jeep you dont need to drop the fuel tank, the pump mounts on the side of the tank. Crawl under it, cut 2 wires & 2 rubber hoses, punch the ring around & out comes $150 worth of fuel pump. Cost me a days work, had to get help towing the jeep, grinding on starter, jumping from another vehicle, etc.

I caught a lady taking aluminum roofing off my barn one morning. I told her I had a backhoe that made things disappear so I'd better never see her again. We have lots of meth addicts in Oregon. Lately they've been stealing guardrails from bridges and the scrap dealers turn them in to the police. Haven't had any trouble since but I lock everything up at night which adds extra hours to some already long days.

Times are hard right now and people that have little or no morals will take all they can. If thing keep up like they are it will get to be like it was in the 30s and then we will all be in trouble

you must be in a good part of the country, here in central IL, the economy is not the best in the world, I run a lawn mower sales and service center and the little cheap or used mowers are sellign good, but the higher end mowers are not selling. And this is pretty common within a pretty large area of the central US, according to our reps that travel the central US, people are kinda sitting back and trying to see what the economy is going to do, and I see it sliding lower and lower.

Don't know where you live but in my area times are hard and people are just liveing pay check to pay check and thats if they are lucky. The pawn shops are full of stuff that people pawn just to be able to buy gas to go to work and its not getting better but worse. Ya if you have a job that you make $100,000 a year your don't see the little people that are hurting. If times wheren't so bad then why is it that tractors aren't selling, homes aren't selling and even the tractor dealers I know have said its been bad for the last year or 2
