A few months ago, I purchased my first tractor, a Ford 9N. I have a question regarding the noises I hear whenever I lift an implement that I have hooked up to the 3-point hitch on the tractor: I hear squealing and/or knocking coming from the rear end whenever the implement is raised, or is in the air; this noise stops as soon as the implement is lowered - is this normal? If not, what can the cause of such noises be? Thanks!

That 60 year old scotch yoke piston pump likely has some wear and may knock a bit. Don't worry about it. When it stops knocking.. then worry.

90wt gl1 oil in the tranny vs utf oil will help it.

Unhook your implement and try to raise and lower the 3 point. does the noise go away?

Yes, it does. Only when there is an implement on the hitch does the noise occur.
