What is a Good Loader for a 4020? It does not matter if its a John Deere or Big bend or somethig else. I just need to know what model numbers to search for.

The International 2000 Series loaer are built like a brick house. Don't know if they can be mounted on JD, but if they could,it'd be like having a dozer blade up front. Good luck.

I agree.

That's why nobody likes 'em.

When shopping for a loader, you want the lightest physical weight with the highest lifting capacity you can find.

Like others said the JD 148 and 158 I have a 158 on a 4020 and it does a great job. Lots of lift (about 4000 lbs.) and lots of reach. Which can get you into trouble too ! this is why I posted. You will NEED fluid in both rear tires as full as they put them and that is not still enough so we hang a model 115 rear blade on the back maybe another 1000 lbs. ? and this is just right !

I also think if easy on and off is what you need than maybe a loader from another maker or a newer JD one would be better. You have to unbolt some large bolts to get the 158 on and off. I always leave it on.

A recomendation I might add is a quick-tach loader. It makes it an awful lot easier to drop the loader if you want to do some field work or tractor maintenance.

The JD 48 and 58 were also used on the 4020. And every maker of loaders has several to work with the 4020. Its not a problem of there being few, its a problem of there being many.

I have a MF-236 loader on my 4020. Its almost strong enough to survive, though I've not broken the loader, just the buckets so far. It was too much loader for my MF-135 that it came on.

The bucket's Massey used on those loaders were a joke. We had a 6' bucket on a 246 loader and it got rebuilt three times before I finally got fed up and built my own bucket for it from scratch. I used all 1/4" plate with several 1/2" wear strips under the bucket for extra strength as well as a gusset in the middle. We never had anymore bucket problems after I built this bucket and I even used it to pick up a 4,600lb grain head one time which our neighbor thought I would never get off the ground.

I had a 158 JD loader with a 7 foot bucket. It was a great loader for the reach and the height. The 148 is shorter and closer to the tractor. You decide. The 148/158 loaders were incredibly strong and reliable...Even easy to get on and off with their "pivot arm" attachment system and stand!

JD 148 would be a pretty good match.
