I have just recently purchased a 1935 Allis U. Its all complete. engine turns over and everything. I took the carburetor off and sandblasted it and cleaned it all up to find out that it is a Kingston Model-3 Brass Carburetor made in USA. and i was wondering if anybody could tell me some info about this carb.. value, info.. and the tractor has an American Bosch Magneto on it, and i was wondering if anybody could tell me some info on that too.. thanks alot..

Does your tractor have the flat head Continental engine? The kingston carbs were used on them. The later Allis UM engine used a carb like the Farmal F series (F20 F30) tractors made by Zenith. The Continentals also used the Bosch mag. Right now I forget the type (I'll check for you in the morning) but the mag wire leads came out above the impulse right below the carb. This arraingement made for an occasional fire. I'm thinking the Continental engines were discontinued after 1931. Again I'm not sure but I will check my facts in the morning. Bothe the Kingston Carb and the mag varry in price by condition. I have seen both go for $30 for a core-$400 for professional rebuilt

Yes it is the flat head continental Engine, the mag is right below the carb like you said the mag wires leads came out about the impulse right below the carb.

Then you have a 31 or older U. IF ever you need help let me know or Doug in IL. IF your engine is in good shape you have a nice little tractor there. IF it was made in early 29 (check the serial number just up and to the left of the PTO) you may actually have a United rather than an Allis Chalmers. My e-mail is open or incredibillat hotmale dot com (Spelled wrong on purpose this time :? )

The correct mag for the Continental powered U is a U4 ED2V3. Base mount mag. By 35 the mag was a front flange mount unit. In 1932 Allis switched to their UM Engine with a Zenith K-5-AC Carburetor.

I added a picture of my 35 U Now owned by Doug in IL

I have a Continental powered U (actually an early United) That I can post if there is anything you would like to see on it. I am curious as to what the serial number of your tractor is.

Well i guess mine isnt a 1935 then, cause my engine dont look like that. The guy i bought the tractor from i didnt think he knew what he was talkin about. its got the flat head, Kingston brass carb, and American Bosch Magneto. The carb and mag are on the right side of the engine veryclose to eachother, and the water pump is on the right side of the engine too. I dont know the serial number, i just bought the tractor last weekend and the tractor is up at my grandmas. If you could give me your email address Ill email you the serial number on sunday when i go up their to work on the tractor. thanks for your help and information hope to talk to you more about the tractor.
