On my 966 when I run it a while then idle down and go to take off again it seems to miss at about 1200 rpm's. The motor has all been rebuilt with new injectors and a 10% over pump on it. It doesn't do it when cold though. It will idle fine and also clear up after 1400 or so after say 30 seconds and sound good. all filters have been changed 50 hrs ago. got me confused

signed pain in the neck

Is it blowing white smoke when this is going on or just making that "clatter" type noise?

Doesn't seem to be smokin if memory serves me but i'll look closer. Does it have anything to do with this puppy wanting to work hard? I've heard a lot of guys say this motor needs to run????

Mornin',

If it was missing, you'd know it. They throw white smoke like nobody's business when a cylinder isn't holding it's own.

Yes, your new engine probably just needs broken in. Diesels just don't like to "putz" around. They were designed to work hard and that's about the only way you can keep the old snorters happy.

Why don't ya load it up and bring it out here? I've got 55 acres of tiger shut ground and a plow that would make that tractor grin ear to ear. :>)
