I was just wondering what kind of reputation these little tractors have. There is one in an auction near me and it looks like a handy little tractor for my budget. Are the compareable to the Farmall/International cubs? What do the have in terms of hydraulics? this one appears to have a 3-point. I couldn't exactly see the number on this one but I think that is a 1614? Any input/replies are appreciated.

Power King tractors had rear drives built for at least 25hp and most, if not all, used Kohler engines with less than 25hp. They were roughly comparable to today's Ingersoll brand which is basically the old Case garden tractor. Power Kings are very good machines but they were way overpriced in their later years. There was a time when $1000 would buy a new one and then, a few years later, you couldn't touch one for under $5000. Enter Kubota, Yanmar, etc. and Power King was history.

Hi,
I have a 1614 and they are bullet proof. The 16 denotes the rear wheel size and the 14 is the HP.
They also made a 12 and 18 HP and 24" rear wheel.
The unit in your pic appears to be a 1970's model, they have a Kohler motor and will out pull any cub. They are VERY popular in pulling circles I hear. Hydraulics and 3 pt. are a plus and it might have the double transmission. (BorgWarner). If the price is right, buy it!!

It appears to have a solid frame in the picture, somewhat similar to the older simplicity's built by A.C. Is that the case? What implements were available? Was a belt drive PTO available for belly implemeents like sickle mower? Thanks, Bob

They were made by ECONOMY..a Wisconsin Co. I think. They are "All Gear Drive". They have an electric front PTO pulley and a set of center pulleys. There is a Economy Power King forum out there that can answer anything about them as far as implements. I have a copy of the owners manual if you need it.
Just do a search.
Bought ours new in 1976 and still mow with it.

Thanks Dan; I will look at the site. I have a simplicity that I can not find a replacment motor for and may try to adapt all the implements to something. Particularly the 5 foot sickle mower. Bob
