Dumped 80 gallon of diesel fuel in this thing, which was bad enough, then went out and made one pass thru the oats.

Combine worked flawlessly, air conditioner froze me out, everything perfect.

Except..... .the darned crop. 50% green, wet weed seed.

Sure wish I had a draper swather. Guess I'll just go cut it and make "enriched" straw bales out of it. It is darned sure no good this way. :>(

Dunno,

Wouldn't that be a little tough on that new baby alfalfa?

Just think of all the fun you are having. Why if you want to call it work, just pull the cab off of that gleaner.

Nope on knowing your brother, left there a long time ago, but still have relation there. Great Uncle had a ranch at Fairburn,SD. Cousin has it now, Mainerd Downen, he was also a county Commissoner.

Haven't been back since my Grand mother passed away in late 80's.

Howdy there Allan
Just came in a few minutes ago from putting up the last of my "enriched" straw bales as you call em. Turned out pretty good. We had a similar problem with weeds but at least we got a crop of something. Over half of the cane we put in is burned up completely and only reached a few inches in height. A few of the neighbors are already cutting silage too. Most of the dryland corn is layed over and too dry to chop. Good luck with your straw.

Shoot keep cutting it that way you are, at least then the weed seed isn't on the gorund and maybe next year you will have good what ever you put there and a lot less weeds. Plus if it would dry for you you still have some feed value out of it. I know chickens sure would eat that stuff up.

Yeah,

But, it would heat like crazy. I spread this batch out in the bottom of the truck just so's I wouldn't have to put in in the bin wet.

I really need to find a draper somewhere and let these weeds dry out.
