Loader trouble

I have a Freeman loader on an 851 Ford tractor with a recently installed after market power steering unit. It seems that lately the loader won't pick up as much as it used to. For example. I lifed and engine off a trailer about three weeks back but now it won't lift the same engine to put it back on the trailer. What kind of problem do I have? Could the steering system priority valve be the problem? Thanks for the help.

see if you can splice a hydraulic pressure gauge in the line somewhere, i would try at the loader valve on the down circuit and run the loader down to it stops and the relief valve opens to see what you got. i had a farmall m that had a piece of dirt stuckin the releif valve and it wouldnt lift more than a couple hunderd pounds. cleaed the junk out and it works good now.

Filters and oil level is the first thing to check

Does your loader have a front mounted pump? If it does, the after market power steering should have no effect on it. I have a freeman on my 861, but it has a front mounted pump. So the power steering has no effect on the loader. Did you check your oil level?

It has a front mounted pump that also supplies the hydraulic power for the steering system. The steering system comes with a priority valve that dedicates hydraulic power to the steering when pressure drops below a certain level.
