I have to get everyone who has children to read this. I don't know how to get this story out to the general public, so I am submitting it to every forum I can find. You guys have helped me in the past.

Thank you, Bob

On Sunday, July 23, 2006, My 4 year old grandson Justin lost his right leg just below the knee when he was accidentally run over by a riding mower.

His mother was mowing around his play house when bee's started coming out from a nest in the overhang. As she jumped off the mower to avoid the bees, she tried to get the mower into neutral or over shot it into reverse or bumped it into reverse. Justin, somehow, was behind the mower at the time and was knocked to the ground and his right leg was trapped under the deck.

He was Mercy flighted to Strong Hospital in Rochester, New York.

After 6 hours of surgery, the surgeons could not reattach the lower portion of the leg. He is in intensive care and is scheduled for another 2 hours of grafting on Wednesday.

Neither safety switch, one when getting off the seat - kills the engine or the one that stops the blades as you reverse, worked properly.

Everyone is totally devastated by this terrible tragedy. Very, very sad situation.

I am asking everyone for prayers for Justin and his parents. His Mom and Dad, Kristen and Brian, have not left his side.

Cards of support would be greatly appreciated for Justin and his parents. The mail address to Justin at the hospital is below.

Justin Baxter Family

And to all farmers or tractor lovers: Justin loves farm tractors. I thought if any one would like to send Justin a photo of their farm tractor or a poster of a tractor for when he starts to recover, he would just love it. Please write your name and address on the back of the item.

I am asking everyone to please pass this note on to everyone you know. This could happen to anyone. I know.

Thank you for taking time to read this

prayers said and sent, and a special prayer said for Momma. Please give her hugs from here, I cannot imagine the feelings she must be having at this time...please reassure her and keep a close eye on her, this is more traumatic for her than anyone else at this time. And let us know if there is anything we can do to help. I will go through pictures tonight and see what I can find that might put a smile on this baby's face. CL

CL. Your point is well taken. I talked with Bob this evening. He informed me that there are three children, one boy eight years old and one girl two years old + the 4 year old. My concern was that while we may be doing things for the injured boy, the other kids may feel left out and we should also think of them as well as the mother & father. Hopefully we can provide enough support for the entire family so no one feels left out. I have never met these people except for Bob and if they are like him, they are great people.

That is a horrible tradgedy. The mother must feel terrible. How old was the mower? Was the safety shutoff faulty? or disconnected.

Oh yeah, I'm a firm believer that kids should not be in the yard when a mower is being run. One of my tractor story books is on the way.

Bob, I recieved your e-mail yesterday informing me of this horrible accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you & your family. I have been making calls to our tractor club members to send cards & prayers to your grandson. The Western NY Two Cyl. Club has over 350 members and The Finger Lakes Antique Power tractor club has over 125 members + all the great folks who visit this terrific web site will join in and show support. It has effected me greatly as I have come to know you and cannot imagine the trauma of lossing a limb at any age. Keep in mind we open for suggestions and please call to inform us of his condition. We have several large shows coming up in the area where we can possibly enlist the help of many people. Best of luck to you.
