Where to find 3 5/16 x 33 solid shaft

I'm trying to repair a two-way integral plow that uses a 3 5/16" diameter x 33" long solid steel shaft that the plow pivots on. The original is broken and I need to find a substitute for it.

I intend to use an tractor rear axle shaft for this purpose. Can anyone out there tell me of any tractor that used this size axle shaft (it can be longer than 33" but not shorter).

Thanks for any help provided!

I don't know how sizes run in that range, buy finding 3 5/16 may be a problem. You might have to get say 3 1/2 and turn it down. I would think it would be easier to find 3, 3 1/4, 3 1/2 etc. Especially if you are trying to find it cheap.

If the shaft your replacing is cold rolled steel and it broke maybe you ought to consider medium carbon or high carbon steel. Just a thought, but might be cost prohibitive. Fred OH

Where in Missouri are you? My son works at the Missouri Forge in Doniphan near Poplar Bluff. They forge parts from round stock. Might have what you need.

I'm near Cape Girardeau...about 1hr from Poplar Bluff. Could you find out if they have 3-5/16" coldroll steel?

Thanks,

My son says his company will not sell any of their metal, but he thinks there may be another place there that would. Will check some more.
