I posted yesterday about a JD hay rake that I can't get any info on cause all I have is the serial #'s I think, LR2 8345. I don't know what model it is. Can any of ya'll help? The rake was given to me. It is a 4 bar roller bar rake.Ground driven with gear box which is all fine.I can't even get the JD dealer to tell me what model it is. What a joke that clown is anyway.

Thanks

Mr. Glen , is the one you have pictured 858? If so can I put rubber mounted teeth on it? Shoups says that they will fit if it does not have vertical mounting studs.858A and 858 same rake? Sorry for all the questions I have never had a JD rake before, only NH and NI.

Thank you very much

One pictured here is a 851 and the one on implement alley post is a 858. Shows the 851, 858, & 858A all in same parts book and you have to look close to see what differences there were. 851 used the metal spring teeth but the universal rubber ones will work on it. Some 858 ser.#87201-88950 had a rubber mounted tooth with vertical studs but later 858 used the rubber teeth and they fit on a earlier 858 also. I've gotten from Shoups before too for a early 858 and they worked fine.

No Sir,

On the John Deere stuff, I gotta rely on ol' Glen down in Texas. He knows all that green stuff info. :>)

I'm not Allan but know some about those older JD rakes. Don't guess you have pics of it?? That sure would help. Does it look like one of these 850 series, 851 or 858 with cast star shaped wheel and gear box drive ? If the reel bar wheel is round it could be a 890 series, 894 or 896 too with chain drive set up. Or is one of those old big wheel or steel wheel rascals? I got pics of the 858 on Implement photos too but it's just a later version of 851. Hope yours is in better shape than that one Allan got rid of. If the gear box is shot get ready to trade, find used parts or spend money on converting with a hydraulic motor as many new parts aren't available much for the gear boxes anymore.

Mr. Glen, The one you have the picture of is it. Sir, I really do thank you for the help.I can get teeth for it now. The gear box and everything works great, it just needed some teeth.

Thanks

Ok, good deal. You can use those aftermarket universal rubber mount teeth on it too. BTW, I still have some 850 rake manual, parts book and a few parts but no new teeth.
