2 things, JD530

1) I broke the button end off of the choke rod, any idea where i might try and find one?

2)I am having trouble cranking, battery tests at 11.1 volts even after a charge,
would something be draining it? or maybe it is just bad.

I assume the threaded end of the rod is still in the knob and broken off flush. A new rod from the salvage yard is probably the best bet. If that's not an option and you're kind of handy and patient, then you could make a new rod and thread the end, or weld a new threaded end on the old rod and then find a new knob, or drill the knob outand re-use it or----- ----- . Try Sharps or JD Heritage for the choke rod knob. New repos. Used at salavage yards: adeptr.com

Bad battery. Generator should be putting out 9.5-12.5 volts at battery and if alternator should be putting out 12.5-14.5 volts charging at battery posts.

Not sure what to say about the choke rod unless you can find another one at a tractor junkyard. But as far as the battery goes, lots of places will test a battery for free to see if its any good. Walmart is one place, infact thats just about all I let there service department do. I don't let them touch anything else of mine.

Sounds to me like you've got a shorted cell in your battery. That'll give you low voltage (12v battery fully charged should read 13.x volts with no load) and will also cause the battery to discharge while just sitting.
