Hey guys, I would like to ask if I could for your prayers. We are having a bad time here in our area of North Central Texas for much needed rain. We have cracks in the ground you could drop a front tractor tire in. To ad too it all, this past friday I had a round baler fire(total loss). Just one bad deal right after another. I'm kinda feeling tonight like I wish I had never been here at all. Just don't really see the point in life I guess. LIfe in this country, the land of the free and the home of the brave. Where we are suppposed to guarantee the hope of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness just really is not much punkin.
Yep, its one of those nights, hopefully things will look better in the morning? Thanks!

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement and for the many prayers. Its a tough time right now with it being so dry. Pastures are going away, hay is scarce(again), gas prices on the rise again! and everything else to boot. We all need some relief in one way or another so my prayers to all of us that we get relief for whatever our needs may be.
God bless all and thanks again!

 Footprints in the sand in reply to Gary in TX, 07-18-2006 19:51:10
Hang in there Gary, here is a little well known poem I have hanging on my wall given to me by my mother. It has helped me on more than one occasion.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world.

If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways you may never even know

Gary and Family; Hope this morning finds you in better spirits. I am sure there were things in you life you really wanted, even prayed for something or someone. A day or week later you were glad you didn't get it, right? Remember, some of Gods greatest blessings come in disguise. There are no un-answered prayers. Things will get better. We are all praying for you. MN Bob

We'll say a prayer for all. Life is tough for most. Thats how we become strong. You will be better off in the future than those who have a pampered life. 12 years ago my girl freind left with my daughter. I had $12, a $200 Chevy Citation, and about 4 months of back rent and bills that she had not payed, but did who knows what with the cash, AND she was pregnant with my best freinds baby ( damn that could be a Willy song!). I felt like running from life. Instead I dealt with the pain of life and changed what I could, accepted what I could not change. I have had custody of my daughter for 12 years now, I have a wonderful wife, and 2 sons also. I have a farm rather than that apartment and a good income from it,14 years ago I thought my life was over, but when ya hit rock bottem the only way you can go is up. I wish ya the best and pray for ya. Just do one thing for us- stay away from the bottle during these times.

Gary,Gary, Gary. You cant loose hope like this, or start talking like that especially in front of your family. Soon as you lose hope so will they! They look to you for guidance and support. It will get better it alway does, and the sun will rise again tommorow. We go through dry spells each and every year, some worse than others. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, keep an eye on the weather channel. And start combing the bone yards for a good used baler, or rent to get you by, ask a dealer for a demo baler they usually lend them out for free if you show some interest in their product. And you will be in our prayers. REMEMBER THERE IS NO THING CALLED FALSE HOPE, JUST FALSE HOPELESSNESS. DAN TURKE

Gary;
I may get some of the words wrong, but the following are a few lines from "The Quitter".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You're sick of the game. Well now, what a shame.
You're young and you're brave and you're bright.
You've had a raw deal. I know, but don't squeal, Buck up, and do your damnedest and fight.
It's the plugging away that will win you the day,
So don't be a piker, old Pard.
Just draw on your grit. It's so easy to quit.
But, it's the keeping your chin up that's hard!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The above was written about a hundred years ago, but it still works today.
Better days are coming...

I was just wantin to feel sorry for myself as my ex-wife is trying to cause calamity for me with the child we have between us. I am having to needlessly pay thousands in attorny fees. Then I see we all have challenges. The good thing, as we have already seen on the forum is that farm folk are very supportive. Keep your chin up. God will provide.

Even when it seems like the end of the world it is not. Felt that way about a dozen times already this haying season - too much rain - equipment break downs - moldy hay - and no money, - lots of stress, but never fails how happy I am to drink my coffee and watch the sun rise in the morning while I am on the discussion board - hang in there.

Hang in there Gary. Things do look and get a little rough sometime but the good Lord won't put more on us than we can bear.

Seen one of those balers on fire a coupla weeks ago but he lost tractor also.

Conditions here in Southwestern Ontario, Canada have been very humid, still a lot of wheat to come off.

We're praying for you.

John from Ontario, Canada

Yeah, things sometimes go like this. I will honor your request but also a suggestion. Go to Pharo Cattle Co. web site and read about his trials. Some times we just need the proper perspective on things in order to get along with the hand we are dealt.

As we used to say in RVN Screw 'em, " all that they can do is kill you, they can't eat you". Ive found that if you just keep moving something will break loose. Hang in there! My younger brother just died at the age of 59 (from cancer). I told him that he got a bad break, but he said it wasn't all bad, & that he really enjoyed talking to all those that used to tell him he should work harder & save more for his retirement. In 100 years not much that worries us now will be noticed..... Lloyd

Gary, Ol Pard, Count your blessings...ie You and your family are basically healthy, not sick, You have a roof over your head, food on the table, clothes on your back, internet services!
Money troubles comes and goes just like the wind. Yes, I know You didn't need that baler to catch fire, But you saved the tractor! Yes it is dry too here in Cen-Tex (Lampasas/Georgetown area) just South of you. That High Presure lid is not moveing much. Got Cracks so deep they have a red glow in the bottom of them,,,LOL!
Things will looke some better in the morning, after a good nights sleep. Just remember HE never promised an easy time of things. The low of the valleys build the character for later, and makes the mountian top just that more sweeter. Gatcha in my prayers too!
Later,
John A.

Already done, my friend. I know its hard, believe me when I say I know. I"ve struggled a lot over the years, sometimes with external things, mostly things internal though.

It seems sometimes we just cant go on. Somehow I always managed to. Thats what it takes, somehow just keep going on and eventually things change. You"ve got a lot of friends here, who are counting on seeing you here tomorrow and the next day.

Howdy Gary -
You and yours are on our prayer list.

My Lord God, through whom strength is made perfect in weakness, I pray to you, give Gary and his family and friends the strength they need. You have said, that to your children who have no might, you will increase strength. As Gary is feeling weak Bless him with a measure of strength, as may be sufficient for him and his.

When confronted by evil, deliver them, by granting them the power to overcome it. When the daily work is too hard for Gary, give him the strength to be able to do it.

If the burden oppresses Gary beyond his bearing, lighten his load, that his strength may be equal to it.

You have helped many and I asking that you help Gary in this time of need.

May we all find strength to meet adversity with quiet courage and unshaken will. Thank you my Lord.

Amen

Hey, Gary, just remember, you're not alone. Floods in the East, hurricanes in the South, drought in the West. Sometimes it just builds up and overwhelms. That's the great thing about the human spirit. You CAN rebound! You WILL have better days! God bless. We'll keep you in our prayers!

Gary--Heres a message from a guy who thought his life was over, after being wounded on the battlefield, in France in WWII. They cut off my left foot and part of my leg! I figured i'd never be able to work, and had about given up--was ready to die! But then, a minister came into my room and set my mind at ease, told me not to give up, stay the course! And, the British air force pilot, who had 2 artificial legs, came into my room and danced about, made me see i had a chance to make it. And, with much work, i finally got home, and found a job, and only retired 10 years ago, at 72 YOA. So, times do get tough, but you can get thru this. Prayers will be said at church next Sunday! Just don't let the other members of your family get the idea you have failed! Keep smilin". Rusty J.
