Yep,

Just kinda proud of myself on this one.

Took a lot of flack over my payin' a pretty high price for this old combine. And Good Lawd! Nobody but nobody would be caught dead using an ugly old Gleaner. Ya just gotta have a green one. Also, it's a must that rotary is the only way to go. Right?

Well, tell ya what.

Granted, I still have to wade thru and fix that silly air conditioner, but after all the darned dust settled, total out of pocket expenses to put 'er in the field came to $97.13. And no less, the dealer had all the parts on the shelf.

Sometimes me thinks it just pays to buck popular opinion and buy what everyone else doesn't want. :>)

Allan

Allan, Down on the South Plains on-along I-27 between Plainview and Hub City there are 2 are 3 what look like to me were L models, they have been sitting for a couple of yrs. Just sitting and waiting for someone like you to LOVE them again! LOL! Both had 20 ft platform heads with bat reels like your ol girl. A couple of 1460 IHs too. Might be the place to up your fleet. Just a thought!
Later,
John A.

They can laugh and call em "Silver Seeders" but if you figure out how to set the fans you got it made. You can still see the materiel coming through the return and figure how well it"s doing. You should always have a fair amount coming back through, too much and the seives are open too much. Too much trash in the tank? Maybe open the air up a bit. Can be a PITA in light oats though.
The machine only takes three different types of bearings and speed chain. Wooden idler blocks and other easy maintenance items as well.My brother is still running the F we bought new back in 75".

You can leave a lot of seeds on the ground between now and Doomsday and still not make up the difference on a similar one of the popular ones. Plus I think you got a header with yours... One HS associate never did get cured of Gleaners.

My Buddy paid more than that for air freight charges to get a belt for His old green combine delivered Friday night so He could finish combining.... and He only lives 3 miles from JD's BIGGEST parts depot.... Best combines for the last almost 30 years have been RED.... and built 1/2 mile WEST of the green machine plant. ;-)

Production of red combines in Moline ended 2 years ago. I think they are built in Nebraska now..
