I just installed a new ignition switch on my Farmall M, but I still can't get the tractor to fire. I don't seem to have any currant flowing through the switch. My test light fails to light up at the ignition switch and coil.

Any ideas?

youve got a test light...just follow the power from its source...if youve got power coming into the switch and another hot post with the switch on make sure your wire to the coil is on that post...its easy to cross wires when changing a switch.

Where are you getting power from to feed the switch?

An 8 volt battery feeds the switch.

Is the wire connected straight to the battery?

The ignition switch wire is connected to the voltage meter in the light switch box.

Is there power there on both post? IF so then is there power to the side of the switch that wire goes to? If so then Id say you have a bad switch. Im not trying to be a smarta... or anything but you do have a distributor and not a mag right?

Nothing personal, just know a couple of guys who tried to wire up mags like distributors once.

Correction, the ignition switch is fed by a wire coming from my relatively new 4 position light switch with 4 terminals.

In that case Id say to put it on the side of the amp guage that goes to the battery.

I should tell you that the amp gauge has the wire coming from the generator and a wire going to the starter switch. The amp gauge is not connected directly to the battery.

Do you know where I can get a copy of a wiring diagram for the new round style 4 position switch from CaseIH. My local dealer didn't have and easy way to help me. Their computer part book does not have a good diagram of the switch box and wiring setup.

Sorry for not getting back sooner.Heres Bob Ms diagrams. Something there should help you out.The wire on the starter switch is OK if its on the cable lug from the battery.

Unfortunately, Bob M's diagrams don't show the round 4 position light switch sold by the CaseIH dealers today. They all show the OEM switch with a fuse. Any other suggestions as to where I could get a wiring diagram for the new style switch?

I would start with forgetting about the light switch .Put the power supply for the switch on the amp gauge and get it running first. Then using your light wire up the lights. to a fused source.I use an inline on my M since the factory location on the switch is broken. The switch is wires the same I beleive as the old one.
