I was on a business trip today that took me through Janesville, MN and I spotted this White Cockshutt 1955 for sale in town. I used to have an Oliver 1650 and I immediately recognized the tinwork on this Cockshutt as being Oliver-style, and in small letters above Cockshutt it says White. I have never seen one like this before, how many Oliver tractors did White produce in Orange like this? Is it worth more/less than the comparable Oliver model?

Sorry for the poor quality image, I had to take the picture with my cell phone camera.

Thanks and hope everyone is having a great week!
Brent

Brent,
Janesville Tractor is owned by a jockey who usually brings back Canadian tractors like that Cockshutt. That tractor was built by White Motor co. after White Motor co.acquired Cockshutt in 1962 and sold in Canada where Cockshutt originated. They bought the Oliver corp in 1960.

Everything is the same from a 1955 Oliver to a 1955 Cockshutt, except the paint. There are a few other models including Mineapolis Molines where paint is the only difference.
We have a 1650 Oliver diesel. Where the paint chips or rubs off (the wide front end in particular),red paint is underneath.
It doesn't make the tractor any more valuable than it's counter-parts,other than a Canadian tractor is in the U.S.~brad

Brad

One very minor correction on this. In addition to the paint the Oliver built Cockshutts also had a slightly different serial number tag.

I realize I am acting in the CORRECT POLICE mode here but the tag is different on the genuine article. I have seen them.

Think that jockey (BB) was talked about 'round these parts a year or so ago, but I don't know anything first hand so I'll leave it at that.

I thought that may be the same place that was -discussed- on this board last year. I have a friend who farms near Lake Elysian just outside of Janesville, I will have to get the inside scoop. Thanks!
