I lent out my MF 50 with a loader, to a friend that needed to move some top soil. Well we all know about lending and borrowing, so heres what happened. Theres a metal tube that goes to the power steering pump, that got broke, I dont know how. So the friend replaces that metal line with a high pressure rubber hydrolic hose, Is that hydrolic hose OK or should I make sure it goes back to metal? Thanks.

I've never replaced a metal line with anything but hyd hose on anything, anywhere in 20 years. All the hose is still as good or better than new.

I agree with the rest about your friend. I always try to bring things back promptly and as good or better than when I borrowed them. I think this reputation has gotten around I have a Bucket truck that I can use on this basis.

Back to your question. As long as the line is clear of hot areas like exhaust manifolds and moving parts like fans you should be in good shape.

Aloha, Usually metal is used where the line would be exposed to damage from rocks, branches, and other foreign objects. The rubber hose will be used where flexibility is needed such as a moving connection (bucket to arm).

He must be a "REAL" friend, He replaced the line at least with the proper material which is probably better than the original? Every time i get something back i loaned out they left it broke???

The high pressure hose will be fine. Wait till you have to fix a metal hydraulic line and you'll be putting a hose on instead too. Much easier and will probably last longer if not as long and cheaper than the metal line from MF if you can even get it. I bet dealer wouldn't have it on shelf ready to go anyway. Just be glad they are fixing it for you.
