I recently aqiired a 1950 Farmall H gasoline run tractor and the problem I"m having is that it won"t run without the choke halfway out and even then there isn"t enough power to start her off in any other gears but 1st and 2nd.If I try she will just stall.I have adjusted the carberator per Farmall specs....
Main fuel is set to three turns open and the Idle screw is set to 1 1/2 turns open.
Any suggestions ?

I had the same problem on my Farmall B. It was water built up in carb. Try draining out carb & letting gas flow thru from tank. On Zenith carbs there is plug to take out. Make sure gas in tank is good with no water.

Think about it: When you pull out the choke to make it run you are increasing the fuel to air ratio. Therefore you are not getting enough fuel or you are getting too much air. Right? Therefore check to see if you have good fuel flow at the carburetor, if so, get a can of carb cleaner and with engine running and the plastic tube on spray can, spray carb cleaner around the outside of carburetor and if the engine speeds up as you do this look for air leaking into this area. Get it running good then isolate power problem.

Check the ignition too. It could be way out of time and still run smoothly with no power.

After checking to see if it is getting enough gas, check to see it isn't getting too much air by way of a vacuum leak between the manifold and the head, or between the carburetor body and the manifold, or someplace else between the carb and the combustion chamber. It might even be possible if the exhaust valves were shot, it could be sucking exhaust back in past the valves.

Yoy have one or 2 problems and when you say pull the choke it has to be either your not getting enough gas to the carb or the carb just plain needs to be rebuilt.

Is the tractor getting fuel from the tank? Have you put a rebuild kit in the carb? The carb may just be all gummed up and needs a thorough cleaning.

pull the screen in the carberator inlet you will need a 5/8 deep well socket
