Just brought home a AC Model WD, serial number is a high 77k. Looks like it spent much of the past 55 or so years in a shed, but it must have had 5 or 6 out-of-doors at some point. Rear tires are pretty good, one flat and one good up front, starts and runs good, looks like all parts are there except the seat back. I paid $700 and drove it home... Where should I start, what should be my first steps.

Yeah, what the others said. But make sure you remember the fianl drives when you do your oil changes. You will need a manual to know where all the plugs and fills are unless you ask here. Also check the steering box for oil/grease. A reprint of factory manual and owners manual is better than the I&T, more detail, however if the I&T is all you can find and you want if fast it is way better than nothing, but get the AC eventually.

No seat back on the WD but some WCs had a seat back so if it has parts of a seat back on it then it could be a WC or a WD with a WC seat on it

Larry, First thing, obtain a manual, if you don't have one !! Next, I hope you checked the "tranny" before you drove it home, as they are notorious for allowing water to seep into the case...so check the condition of the oil in there. Repair or replace the tires, check out the cooling system and in general consider whether you plan to use it, restore it or sell it, then take it from there. Good luck on'er! Jim

I agree with Jim, get a manual and perform the "seasonal" maintenance. Good chance it has the original oil in the transmission. For the price it sounds like you got a good one.

WD didn't have a seat back. I guess if it were mine, I'd start usin it.
