Well I ain't been on the board much in a long time but i thought I'd share with you guys something. I'm a proud new daddy of a 1974 966 Farmall. It was my brothers who passed away in October last year. He just put a ton of work into it, new motor, inj pump, injectors, and was proud of her. I sure am glad i got it before it was sold to someone else. I've read about guys who have lost their family tractors and wanted to track them down. The sad part is some may never find them. On the other hand the best part of it was my wife bought it for me. She said it was sentimental and i should have it. So all you guys be good to your wives and ya just never know what ya might get.

Good luck with the 966. It is one of the most durable and productive tractors there ever was. Mine has 12,000 + hours, original TA, Engine overhauled once, replaced injectors, and replaced the pump in the MC valve as preventative maintainence. Other than that, usual tires, oil and hydraulic oil changes, etc. Also has M&W turbo since 1500 hrs. 135 HP and still going strong.

Greg,

I don't believe in "babyin'" these old tractors in any way, but I see so many of the darlin's just being plumb abused and it's a shame 'cause the darned old things will just about run forever.

Glad you saved your brother's tractor. Smart woman you're married to. :>)

Allan

I'm just glad to have it. I got about 40 acres of hay next year and with my kicker baler it should make short work of her. Should be just a fun toy to play with!!!
