Ok I need to know what combo of feeler gauges I would need to use to get a measurement of 1/32 to 3/32s. I can't use a ruler where I need to do this plus I could get a true enough gaugeing to do it either. So which ones do I fold out and all to get those meassurements.
Thanks

Depending on the application, you might be as well off using the (non-fluted) end of some drill bits. They're relatively cheap, and you may already have some of the sizes you need.

Can you just use drill bits? That way you would not have to stack anything....

Or go to www.mcmaster.com and pick up pieces of oi hardening ground tool steel in 1/32" x 1/2". Cut off pieces and stack them. Use your thin feelers to see how much the gap is larger.

Or get lengths of precision ground drill rod in 1/32", 1/16" and 3/32" diameter.

Or buy 12" long feeler gauge stock in .032" thickness and stack them up. Or buy another feeler gauge set so you have enough to stack them as tall as you need.

Assume you are incrementing by 32ths.

You can only achieve three decimal place accuracy with the shim gauges and probably not even that because of the stack tolerance and dirt on the feeler stock.

Fraction=Decimal=feeler stock
1/32=.0312=.020+.011
3/64=.0468=.020+.019+.008 1/16=.0625=.020+.019+.018+.006 5/64=.0781=.020+.019+.018+.017+.004 3/32=.0937=.020+.019+.018+.017+.016+.004

1/32 is equal to .03125. so the 0.030 and the .001 are as close as you're gonna get with feeler gauges.

2/32 (or 1/16) is equal to .0625, On my feeler gauge I don't have a .060, so I'd use .030, .025 and .007.

3/32 is .0935. I think by now you get the hang of it.....
