Hi Guys;
IH established a base in England during WW1 and imported most of their US built tractors until 1949. Until the Ferguson T20, IH were number two in sales behind Fordsons. Very highly thought of here. Started with Titan & Mogul, 10-20 & 15-20, Farmalls. In WW2 we got the Farmall A, H & M;
W4, W6 & W9. Plus the crawler range.
In 1949 IH built a factory in Doncaster (north England) and started to build English versions of the M & W6 using British castings & British diesel engines.
In 1956 they produced the small HP B-250 & B-275 range of tractors. In those days were number 3 in sales figures.
In the mid-1960's a few 706 & 806 were imported to compete with the JD 4020 & 5020, but were too big & expensive for 99.9% of farmers here. A handful have survived into preservation, but most of them were exported back to the USA !
IH tractors very highly thought of in England. And they sold a huge number of balers, mowers, muck spreaders, binders here. Cheers David

Great to hear from you guys across the pond with your tractor stories and pictures. I subscribe to the Tractor and Machinery magazine edited by Peter Love. Peter is an energenic person and really promotes the tractor collecting hobby in the UK. Peter and Jayne Love were to our show near Le Sueur, Mn. a few years ago with a tour from the UK. Sure wish we had him here in the US. Keep on posting from the UK.
