Hi guys;
The tractor is 120HP 6cylinder Ursus made in Czech. The baler is Class 4 foot with wrap & twine.
The cost of silage wrap here is around $70 + roll buying in bulk. You can get 20 bales of 4 foot diameter silage; and 25 bales of 4 foot diameter haylage from one roll of wrap.
This area is 98% arable, grass only grown for small beef herds & sheep flocks. They make all silage/haylage bales around here because its easy to store & move about if sold.
The big dairy herds are concentrated on the wetter western & northern areas of England. They chop silage with big self propelled foragers which will clear 10 acres an hour - 500 to 600 tons. They store in "clamps" which are concrete sided & floors with or without a roof.
Cheers David

$72.00 is what I paid by the pallet for Sunfilm stretch wrap for RB silage back in the spring. Still on my second pallet so I'm not sure the current pricing. Thats close to what I get per roll of film, on an inline I normally get 45 rolls wrapped extra thick using two rolls of film or 58 rolls wrapped normal out of 2 rolls of film.

Sounds like here in Western New York State. Lottsa grass grown, not much alfalfa. Small dairy and beef farms rotationaly graze and make silage bales. large farms are confinment loose housing and have chop everything with forage harvesters. As margins have gotten tighter on my dairy Ive often looked across the pond for new ideas.

Hello David. I see the roof is off of your baler. Guy's around here with the 250's, say the roof causes problems with the net wrap. What is your experience? Kent in NB.

Thats a nice looking tractor! Are Czech tractors as good as their aircraft engins?
The reason Hitler marched into Czechoslovakia was to aquire their excellent tool and die and machine tool industries.
