I guess this off topic till you think about the fact that without the internet we wouldn't be having this discussion! Any one out there able to give a comparison of these two services? Since Hughes took over the Direcway service it has gotten steady poorer. Direcway/Hughes service is a very good indicator of the fact that clouds are coming my way. Long before we ever see the clouds the service goes to a degraded mode and will not recieve or transmit for the internet. E-mail seems to find it's way in. Guess it has enough power from all the spam to push it through.

Hey people; The system got changed over this morning and there is no comparison. wildblue is light years ahead of the direcway/hughes system at the moment. Hope it lasts and is $10.00 per month cheaper for the service.

I have wireless broadband here. It comes off of a mountatin top antenna. It has worked well in all weather conditions (high wind, snowstorms etc.). It cost me about $300 for the equipment and $50 a month. One thing I really like about it is they have a free dial-up back up system so that if your internet sevice goes down for any reason, you still have dial-up to get by on.

You might check and see if something like that is available in your area.

I don't know about direcway but I have wildblue and like it quite well. The guy that installed my system installs the other one too. He said that wildblue was a newer company so they didn't have the fancy home page and stuff like that, but that they were comparable as far as speed. If I remember right wildblue packages were priced better.
