OK this is for everyone that has ever complained about the neighbors dog coming into their back yard. How would you like to go outside and find this????? ?????
Florida Parks and Wildlife game wardens shot this 23'1" alligator in a persons backyard by Orlando.

Nah, it's tractor related. in reply to john in la, 06-21-2006 10:13:38
If you assume the 23' is accurate, that would place the backhoe what, 20' up? The stick isn't at that much of an angle, and it's not extended that much. Would mean a boom of something like 14 or 16' or so.

Biggest Deeres & Cats are what, about 8' booms?

Well, ours aren"t anywhere near 23 feet, but we do have a guy that has two gators and a Caiman as backyard pets...go to Oregonlive.com, search Oregonian for "alligators" (sorry, don"t know how to make a link)

From the size of the gator I would assume the TX story is a hoax if any of them.

So it's on snopes.....what makes you think snopes is the authority and thus the final word on all urban legends?

Well Bill, should be relatively easy to varify, just go to the Newspaper that published the original article in West Columbis, Tx. Or send an email to (Joe Goff, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.)

Snopes accuracy track record is pretty good, but i guess unless you see it with your own eyes you cant be sure of any story out there on the web. i personally would believe a 13 footer in texas before i would a 23 footer in florida. Bill
