Hi Guys;
The English built versions of M & W6 used an English manufactured diesel engine - indirect injection. Starts straight from batteries. The US built gas start diesel only came here in WW2 fitted to the TD6 crawlers.
The "round disc" on English tractors is a TAX DISC. Every vehicle has to pay annual road tax, and the disc has to be displayed on the vehicle. On tractors & motorbikes these silver discs are the Tax Disc holders.
Tax varies on type of vehicle & engine size. Tractors have to display disc but dont actually pay any money. The licence plate issued when vehicle is new (combination of letters & numbers) stays with that vehicle until its scrapped.
Cheers David

Hi guys;
All the photos Im posting were taken at the Mid-Shropshire Vintage Tractor Group show held at Shrewsbury (Shropshire) a couple of weeks ago. This year our featured tractor make was Fordson, over 100 Fordson tractors and variations came.
We were VERY lucky with weather, the two previous weekends two large tractor shows were washed out.
You know that every Englishman has a waterproof coat & umbrella in his car at all times!
Ive parcelled up a box of our rain and am sending it over to Allan in NE & Glen in TX.
Cheers David

Hello MJ in the UK,

Where at in the UK are you? I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from December 1997 to December 2002. I wanted to stay for another year longer, but I guess that it wasn't in the cards for me. After being back in the states for two and a half years, the Air Force decided I needed to experience overseas assignment again and I am in So. Korea now. My 12 month tour will be up in September and I will spend my last hitch with the military at Dyess AFB, Texas. When I was at Lakenheath I lived in Brandon and met many very good people and made some very good friends that I am still in contact with. I used to enjoy going to the steam rallies and touring the area.

Take care,
Jim

Hi Dave were in the UK were your pictures of the IH tractors taken. Hope you are coming to the big tractor show at Newark in November. I only live four miles from Newark showground and I am the Vice Chairman of the Notts group of the NVTEC. To celebrate 60 years of the Ferguson TE20 we are hoping to get 60 TE20s all with a Ferguson implement on them. When the painted the Super BMDs gold they only did 35 because the gold paint kept blocking the spray guns. MJ

You have decent enough weather in the UK in November to have a tractor show?

Don't believe all you hear about our climate, I have sat out on the lawn on Christmas day! The only certain thing about the UK climate is that it is uncertain

One thing will be certain and that is the days will be short that time of year.
