Hi Guys,

Oats are just now starting to come out of the boot and we were blessed with a nice little soaker this afternoon.

Wonder if it would be bad luck to drag the old thresher out of the weeds and start adjusting it up? :>)

Hey...looks like it could use a wax job! Gleaners were famous around here for breaking axles. We called 'em "leaners", 'cause it was pretty common to drive through the country in a wet fall and see 'em leaning to one side broke down in a mud hole. I think you'll probably not have to worry about that in your country!

Geeze! I hope not! :>)

This is the third Gleaner I've had. I can only remember ever replacing one failed bearing with the Gleaners.

'Course, I always do one heck of a lot of preventative maintenance too.

Yeah, I guess,

Wife has been after me to get those corrals built. With any luck, I'll make 'em out of straw bales. :>)

Allan, Where's the reel for that head? I don't think you can run fast enough to keep the header full, and not be riden grain over the strawwalkers. LOL!
Since you have to lay it down with your swather first..... might as well go to baleing it up for those four legger pasture mowers you posted pics of a day or two back. Seriously those oats are just right to start laying down, most people wait waaaayyyy to long on oats before they get going on them.. Whitch ever way you choose, just Git-r-done. Look forward to see how it goes for you, Good Luck !
Later,
John A.

Darned if I can remember, maybe a '76?

It's the last year before they went to the F2s. The only difference between this one and that old F2 I had is the shape of the hydro handle and the curve of the windshield glass.

I've got to repair a small wear spot in the bottom side of the clean grain elevator and put in a set of walker blocks. Other than that, I think it is pretty much ready to thresh grain.

Hey buddy, how come you pick up windrows and not just cut the grain with the grain head. Looks like another trip over the field. Must be a reason. Harley

Hi Guy,

Yep, when the crop is full of weeds like this one is, the weeds have to dry down before being fed thru the machine.

This is a nurse crop for alfalfa so I couldn't even spray the darned thing with 2-4D. The way the year is going with the sparatic rains, I'm afraid the sunflowers are gonna be above the darned oats before too long.

Yeah, I'd rather use the cutter head too, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. :>(

With any luck, maybe I'll get to use this header in the wheat a year from now. :>)
